A perfectly accepted practice, particularly when you are in a creative rutt! It is also a way to call attention to the Amazing Creativity of the Stampin' Up! Concept Artists who come up with all the samples in the catalogue. There are so many to choose from. That catalogue has tons of cards just waiting to be copied!!
Once upon a time they called it a Catalogue and Idea Book.
So I will take you to page 89 and the Above the Clouds Bundle. Now the first thing I want to tell you is that little box with the Play button means you can go to You tube and there is a video you can watch. Here is the picture from the catalogue.
So I cased the Crumb Cake card on the bottom left. I Loved how they shaped the stamp around the circle. Here is my card.
The card size is 4.25" x 5.5" in Balmy Blue
The Crumb Cake layer is 4 1/8" x 5 7/8"
Then I die cut the second largest Layering Circles in Whisper White, embossed the clouds in White Embossing powder then sponged Balmy Blue for a blue sky. Then I glued down the circle using Tom bow Multipurpose glue. Then I laid my block on top and positioned the stamp so it curved around that circle. Then stamped the words around the circle in Early Espresso.
The balloons are a 2 step process using the second generation of Blueberry Bushel and Mango Melody. Then punch out with the Awesome Hot Air Balloon Punch.
I embossed a piece of Soft suede with the wood plank embossing folder (which I did not retain has retired) but you could also use the subtle embossing folder as a substitute. There is a video of me making this card on my facebook page, which you can go to by clicking here.
I was so happy figuring this out I made a second version using the See a Silhouette dsp because I wanted a sunset kind of look. So here is the Bonus card!
Those little clouds are stamped and fussy cut, then turned over so they are white.
I really Hope you enjoyed my card today
